Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion (W13 Natural Beige) Review

7:32:00 PM 0 Comments A+ a-

I was so excited the first time I saw Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion. I mean, the idea of a cushion foundation is so unique that I became really quite curious. Nowadays, a cushion foundation is so popular in South Korea that most of the Korean brands will provide foundation products in that form.

So, just what is a cushion foundation anyway?

A Cushion foundation is basically a liquid foundation that is soaked in a cushion or porous sponge with dual air puffs. The purpose of this product is to eliminate the need for make-up tools such as brushes and sponges when applying a foundation. The main selling point, obviously, is that foundation application will become much simpler and easier to carry around.

Just like any other cushion foundation brands, Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion packaging comes with a small white portable compact (that can be refilled), a small mirror and a washable air puff sponge which is placed on the plastic separator above the cushion in order to prevent the cushion from absorbing the foundation.  Below you can read the instructions on how to clean the air puff sponge:

It comes in 3 shades, which are:

I chose the W13 Natural Beige

Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion claims to contain a 6in1 multifunction formula good for: UV protection with SPF 50+/PA, moisture lock, whitening, wrinkle control, sebum control and skin color correction.

Using this product is very simple. You just need to coat the puff with the content and then apply it starting from larger areas to narrower areas of your face. To be more specific, you can read the instructions below:

This cushion foundation has got a light flora scent which smells SO GOOD! When I applied it on my face it had this pearly and dewy finish. It's got a medium coverage so you will still need a concealer to cover your dark circles. The coverage is also buildable, but in my personal opinion if you go more than one layer, this cushion foundation will look kind of cakey on your face. The texture of this cushion foundation also felt a bit sticky on my face.

Below is the comparison of my skin with and without Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion:
Here's when I applied it on my hand

Here's when I applied it on my face

I actually really like the finished look of this cushion foundation on my face but unfortunately after 3 days of using it caused an acne break out on my skin, which started all over my forehead. Moreover, I have oily skin so after a couple of hours of using it in a non air-con environment this cushion foundation made my face look glossy and dull.

CONCLUSION:
Pros:
- It's got 6in1 multifunction formula
- It smells awesome
- It gives a pearly and dewy finished look which looks really fresh on the camera
- The dual air puff works great in applying this foundation

Cons:
- It only comes in 3 shades which is only suitable for people with lighter skin
- at the end of the day spent outdoors or in a non air-conditioned environment, your skin will end up looking dull, especially if you have oily skin.
- It actually caused my oily and sensitive skin to break out in acne
- It's pricey

So, that's my experience with this popular Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion. How about you? Have you tried it too? Let's share your story with me :)

Mizzu Eyeliner Pen Brown Review

4:21:00 PM 6 Comments A+ a-

Etude House Color My Brows Review (Shade #1 Rich Brown and #3 Red Brown)

2:40:00 PM 3 Comments A+ a-

The first time I found out about Etude House Color My Brows I got supet ecxited. Lately, I'm really into brown eyebrows because with them, I feel like my face is brighter and I look more stylish and lively.  And since I've dyed my hair brown, I feel like I want my eyebrows' color to match my hair color.

Ever since I discovered mascara for eyebrows, like Maybelline Eyebrow mascara, I've become a great fan of any eyebrows mascara product, because it's the only product that can make my eyebrows look stunning. So, when I came across Etude House Color My Brows, I was so excited especially because it's got 5 different shades of brown. Those are:

1. Rich Brown 2. Light Brown 3. Red Brown 4. Natural Brown 5. Blondie Brown

I ended up buying color #1 rich brown and #3 Red Brown.

The packaging of Etude House's Color My Brows is really unique. It is shaped like a binder and when you open it, you could find the eyebrow mascara tucked in the middle. All the product details inside (except the ingredients) are written in Korean. I really wish I had a Korean friend to translate this for me :D

The wand of this Eyebrows mascara is pretty small and slim so it makes it so much easier to apply it to the eyebrows.

How to use this product is pretty simple. All you have to do is comb your eyebrows with the wand along the growth direction of your eyebrow's hair.
If there's too much cream on the tip of the wand, you should swipe the excess first on the bottle or tissue before applying it. Don't press the wand onto your eyebrows or you'll end up look like Shin-chan (with eyebrows looking like a pair of caterpillars!). Then, just brush along the eyebrows' hair gently.

The texture of this Color My Brows mascara is more like thick whipped cream and when you apply in on your eyebrows it kind off makes your eyebrows' hair a bit stiff, but it won't feel heavy at all.

After rubbing it with my fingers, I found that the cream was actually glittery too.

The color of this eyebrows mascara is highly pigmented and what makes me stunned is how this product is amazingly long lasting. I did a couple of tests to see its endurance as you can see the result in the picture below:
Washed it with water

After washing it with water, I tried rubbing it with my fingers several times

Even after I washed my hand with soap, some of the color still stayed. So, the only way to really clean it was by using a makeup remover.

Here's the picture of my bare eyebrows:

Here's the picture of my eyebrows after I applied Etude Color My Brows:
#1 Rich Brown
This rich brown shade is more like a dark brown. This shade will perfectly fit a person with black or dark brown hair.

#2 Red Brown
Just like the name, the brown color is more like reddish brown just like the color of bricks.

Overall, for you who want to try giving your eyebrows a change of color, I think Etude House's Color My Brows will fit you perfectly. The quality is superb and the price is also very affordable.

In closing, here's me using Etude House Color My Brow :)

Etude House "Oh My God" Dry Shampoo Review

10:45:00 AM 4 Comments A+ a-

I've been curious about Etude House Oh My God Dry Shampoo since the first time I heard about it. I mean, what is dry shampoo? How does it work? How effective is it?

So, when I found this dry shampoo, I immediately ordered one. After the shampoo arrived I didn't immediately try it on, however. I waited for at least 3 days so my hair would be all greasy and smelly and by that time, I could really test the effectiveness of the product :P

Etude House "Oh My God" Dry Shampoo came with a very cute packaging. It has got a comic-book illustration printed on its bottle about a girl who had a bad hair day, and who after using this magical dry shampoo screamed "Oh My God!!" because of how good her hair became. And "Oh My God!!" become the name of the shampoo. As usual, very creative, Etude!

So, what is Etude "Oh My God" dry shampoo?
Etude House "Oh My God" dry shampoo is a spray dry shampoo that instantly cleanses your hair without water. It soaks up excess oil and removes impurities for a freshly-shampooed look.

How to use this dry shampoo is pretty simple. First you have to shake it well, then, you hold the bottle 15-20 cm away from your head and spray it onto your scalp and hair (always remember to avoid your eyes). You can spray it from the bottom part of your hair first then step-by-step go up to the top of your hair. After you finish spraying all your hair, massage your scalp gently with your fingers and VOILA!

I could feel my hair becoming less oily and having more volume. And of course, it smelled good. The fragrance of this dry shampoo was fresh, more like a fruity scent. The fragrance was so strong that after some time I started feeling kind of dizzy. Maybe it's just me, but it's definitely was much too fragrant for me. However, it was obviously very effective for masking the bad smell of my hair :P

Unfortunately, the effect of this dry shampoo didn't last very long. It only took 2-3 hours for my hair to start becoming a bit greasy again. After 6 hours, my hair had become all greasy, just like before I used the dry shampoo. What's left was only the fragrance.

So in conclusion, for emergency use, like, if you're such in a hurry and don't have much time to wash your hair, Etude "Oh My God" Dry Shampoo can be your way out from your bad hair day. But if you're not in emergency situation it's still so much better if you washed your hair properly with a proper shampoo and conditioner.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation Review (for Combination/Oily Skin, Shade Golden Beige)

10:16:00 AM 9 Comments A+ a-

To be honest, what made me decide to buy Revlon ColorStay Foundation is because of its great reviews that I read floating around the internet.  When I searched for "the best foundation" on google, the name Revlon ColorStay was on most of the articles or reviews that I read.

As I mentioned in my previous review, I was not a great fan of foundation. Its texture would either feel too cakey, too oily, or too dry and would exaggerate the dry patches around my nose. However, all that's before I found Revlon ColorStay.

Here I quoted what Revlon ColorStay promised their foundation would do on their website www.Revlon.com:
"Longwearing coverage with Time Release Technology and a lightweight formula that won’t cake, fade, or rub off. Specifically made for combination or oily skin to control oil absorption and shine. Your look stays flawless throughout the day."

Features:
• Comfortable, shine-free finish for up to 24 hours
• 20 beautiful, longwearing shades
• Buildable to full coverage

It's amazing that Revlon ColorStay also provides a wide range of shade selection:
Ivory , Buff , Sand Beige , Nude , Natural Beige , Medium beige , Fresh beige , Golden Beige , Warm Golden , True Beige , Natural Tan ,Early tan , Rich Tan, Golden caramel , Toast , Rich ginger, caramel, cappuccino, mahogany, and mocha.

When it came to choosing the shade, I wanted it to really match my skin tone because I didn't want to look like I'd used Nutella on my face or, the other way around, like a dead zombie. And I was so happy with the shade selection made by the SA, which was Golden Beige.

When I first applied Revlon ColorStay foundation on my face what really impressed me was that this foundation felt so light that I'd sometimes forget that I was wearing foundation. And YES, that was the one feature that I always looked for in a foundation.

Revlon ColorStay doesn't give a shiny finish like Korean brands' do. It's more likely to give a matte finish with a medium coverage and I'd still need concealer to cover my dark circle and spot. It does, however, really make my skin look fresh.

This foundation can also stay on for long hours. I used it for 6-8 hours and it still looked great on my face at the end and didn't give my skin an uneven look.
The picture on the left was me after applying Revlon ColorStay Foundation at 11 AM and the picture on the right was me after 6 hours at 5 PM.

The only question left was: Could it really stay on the skin for 24 hours as claimed by Revlon? Honestly, I didn't end up testing it for 24 hours and I don't think I'll want to do that in the future either. What's the point?

I usually apply foundation with my bare hand, but since this foundation dried pretty quick, I thought it's better to use a makeup sponge for better results.
The price was also pretty reasonable. I bought it for IDR. 125.000 and it came with a pretty decent quantity (30 ml).

The only thing that I didn't like about this foundation was the glass bottle packaging. I have a baby girl at home who likes to play with my stuff and every time she gets close to the ColorStay foundation bottle, I'll become quite jumpy with the fear that she'll break it... Geezz...!! --"

I guess that's my review of Revlon ColorStay foundation. If you are one of those looking for a good foundation for everyday used, I think Revlon ColorStay is worth trying :).

Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada Review for Sensitive Skin

9:43:00 AM 4 Comments A+ a-

Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada has been my favorite facial wash for the past 8 months and in this review today I'm going to discuss the reasons why I love this product.

Before I used Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada, I actually used to wash my face with just a baby soap. Why?
It's because the skin of my face is so sensitive that every time I used any facial wash product I always got acne all over my face. But to be honest, I didn't really enjoy using baby soap either. First, because it didn't feel like it's clean enough after a wash, and second, it's because it didn't really treat my skin at all. The texture of my skin was so coarse and it looked dull too.

When I came across Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada, what made me excited was that it had AHA+BHA that has a mild peeling effect. And YES! I DO really need my dead skin cells peeled off.

Here's a brief information about the Hada Labo brand and Perfect X Simple Series as written on the bottle:

Price: IDR. 49.800 (100g)

"The Hada Labo skincare series is a result of co-development between The Mentholatum Co and Rohto Pharmaceutical Co, Japan adhering to stringent pharmaceutical GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards for zero pollution.

Using the technology developed through the production of OTC drugs, Hada Labo skincare line is produced in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, under strict GMP guidelines to ensure Quality, Reliability & Effectiveness in our products.

With a philosophy 'Perfect x Simple', Hada Labo uses only the purest ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, with no unnecessary additives & manufactured under strict pharmaceutical standards."

There are 2 variants of Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada. First is the one that works as face wash only, and second is the one that works as facial wash and makeup remover. Since I often ignored the time-consuming "proper steps" of makeup cleaning and just used soap (it's just to much work), I immediately went for the second variant ;P

But how effective was it really as a make up remover?

I did a simple experiment to prove this.
So one time, after a busy day with makeup on, when I was too tired (and of course, too lazy) to clean up my makeup, I washed my face with Hada Labo Perfect X Simple Tamagohada. Obviously, I still had all the foundation, powder, blush on, and all the make up still on my face. Then, after I finished cleaning up, I used the Face on Face makeup remover and examined the state of the cotton afterwards. And, as you can see below, it was clean! I was convinced.

Here's the texture of the cream. As you can see in the left picture, the texture of the cream may be a bit runny and oily at first after purchase, but after several weeks' use, the texture of the cream will sort of thicken (as shown in the right picture).

So, in conclusion, what I like about Hada Labo Perfect X Simple is that this facial wash really treats my skin face really well. After several days of using it, I could really feel that my skin became smoother and lighter and what's best is that it's also soft enough for my sensitive skin. I've been using it for 8 month and i haven't seen a single acne!

In closing, I really like Hada Labo because of their commitment to use only the purest ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, with no unnecessary additives such as coloring and perfume.

Great job, Hada Labo! ;)
